The collection contains PONG, CENTIPEDE, and BREAK OUT, three games that have inspired countless other titles. PONG is the game that started it all. In its most basic form, two players control paddles that they use to hit a ball back and forth. If the ball slips past their paddle, their opponent scores a point. The ARCADE COLLECTION form of PONG includes this original game plus variations. CENTIPEDE puts players in charge of a hungry centipede as it makes its way across the screen eating. The more food it eats, the longer the centipede gets. If it wraps around and runs into either its own body or another obstacle, the centipede dies. Like PONG, this new version contains both the original and the updated, 3-D version of the game. Finally, BREAK OUT requires players to bounce a ball off a paddle and into breakable bricks. Once all the bricks are cleared, the stage is finished and players move on, but if they miss the ball, they lose a life.
